Chad Matthew Carlson was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Even at a young age, he had an artistic eye and a need to explore it. He created his first stop-motion film at the age of 11 and continued to sculpt, paint, write, direct plays, and explore the world of film throughout his youth. Chad eventually ended up in San Diego, California to study photography and graphic design at Palomar College. While in San Diego, he also worked with professional photo lab Northcoast Photographic Services, where he was responsible for darkroom prints and custom retouching. He went on to attend Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, concentrating on both architectural and travel photography. Through his studies, he has garnered an in depth knowledge of both pre and post-production.
Currently, Chad lives and works in Brooklyn, but he travels across the globe in his pursuit of beautiful and original photographs, from hotels in Madrid and Las Vegas to restaurants in Portugal and luxurious homes in California. He has worked with clients such as Starwood Resorts, Thompson Naylor Architects and Derby Hotels, and has been featured in GQ and City Magazine. Whether its architecture, portraiture, products or exotic locations, Chad always brings passion, hard work and sincerity to the table.
